VENUS - Where we look for love and pleasure, beauty, sensuous

SATURN - Where we work hard to overcome doubts and fears, teach

RAHU - Where we are materialistic and greedy

KETU - Where we are ready to sacrifice

All that we do is our spiritual path  and we have our helpers. In getting to know them we can welcome them into our lives and learn to work with them rather than wishing for something else. Each planet has a certain set of qualities that have a corresponding part to play across all of nature.  For example, the Sun shines, brings light, gives vitality, leads the way, and eliminates darkness. And so when our eyes are shining, we feel fully alive and lit up we can know that our Sun is switched on or activated.  If on the other hand we feel afraid or depressed, then just by listening to uplifting music or watching a comedy we can connect with the light of others that will bring us back to life.  The role of the astrologer is to help understand what quality is asking to be developed and when. However, we must keep in mind all the time that the Soul’s agenda is primary whatever your personal feelings are about the events that are asking for your attention.

 Each planet functions according to his nature in matters related to the house he is in on account of the people and circumstances influencing him. If the planet is good natured he will want to help you achieve your goal, where if his nature is difficult you will have to work hard to get what you want.  If he owns a house of action then you will have to take the action in order to get the benefit, you have to work for what you get, whereas if he own a house of blessing then the gifts come easy.  For example Saturn in the 2nd house with Moon will bring serious concerns about mothers money. 

Planets nature

When an astrologer says a planet is having an influence on us it means it is time to meet and address these qualities in ourselves.  Planets help to describe the type of experience one will have as each planet is a symbolic expression of every possible life form.  Our breathing in and out in keeping the dance or connection between spirit and matter alive.

For example, e.g. Saturn's personality is described as being humble, responsible, wise, and hardworking. When we surrender to its call we will favour the path of meditation, self-restraint and service.  His bad reputation as the disciplinarian with stick in hand who has that cold, mean streak shows itself when we try to avoid the qualities we need to develop or where we need to make amends. 

We all have this same Saturn, Jupiter, Sun, Mars inside us. These names have become symbols for similar qualities that are being expressed through all forms of creation.  As our Saturn gets activated within us it will bring it to life in those around us also.  Our fear, meanness, generosity, humility, arrogance, anger etc. are all contagious. Each planet represents a quality within us that get activated by the people and circumstances in our lives. Looking at a beautiful picture activates our Venus where we saviour the good things in life.  Alternatively when we are angry we have activated the negative aspects of  Mars which can produce hostile circumstances as well as accidents. All the gods and demons are within us showing various aspects of ourselves.  Our good qualities are the gods and our weaknesses become our demons when they get out of control. It is important to be aware of what qualities we want to develop and to realise that our inner life gets reflected back to us through the experiences and people we meet.  The more resistance we have the more painful the lesson becomes until we make friends with the opportunity been given to us.
